The bike path that runs alongside the Hudson River in Manhattan runs from the George Washington Bridge in the north all the way to Battery Park at the southern tip of the island. The trail, which is either asphalt or concrete, covers a distance of eleven miles and is used not only by bikes but also by inline skaters, walkers and it is also accessible to those in a wheelchair. Hudson River road bike rental is by far the most popular; it is an ideal way to see sights and visit places that otherwise may not be uncovered. The trail meanders along the river and passes through the Hudson River Park, South Riverside Park and Fort Washington Park.

Long term plans:

The Hudson River Valley Greenway was created in the early 1990s, the long term objective is to create trails along both the east and west side of the river. The section that runs along the Hudson in Manhattan is only a small part of what eventually will run from upstate New York to the tip of Manhattan with plans in the works to integrate the trail into a network that will join Florida to Maine.

Battery Park:

When you take advantage of Hudson River road bike rental you will get a chance to see Lower Manhattan “up close and personal.” There have been major changes to Battery Park after it was nearly whipped out by Hurricane Sandy. To bring the Park up to a standard that is acceptable to New Yorkers numerous new features have been incorporated including a 90 thousand square foot expanse of beautiful grass that is proving to be a Mecca for those that have biked the full distance down from 57th Street.

Press on for just a little longer and you can terminate your day out on a bike at South Street Seaport with ice cold craft beers and delicious food pairings. For more information visit Hudson River Sightseeing Bike Rentals and Tours.
